The Newport Fishing Pier, formerly known as Sunny Isles Pier, is a relaxing place for families, locals, and anglers of all levels. Situated on the beach behind the Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort, the landmark site opened in 1936 but faced possible demolition decades later. In 1985, a joint effort between the resort owners and the city saw a significant renovation to include shopping, fishing, and dining.
In 2005, Hurricane Wilma wreaked havoc on the original pier, causing damage and compromising its safety. Five years later, the pier was demolished to construct the new Newport Fishing Pier, which reopened to the public in 2013.

The Newport Fishing Pier is a tranquil spot where locals and visitors to Sunny Isles Beach like to escape for its cool, refreshing ocean breeze, especially during the summer months. It can get crowded, however, when the restaurant is open.
For those fishing at the pier, you must maintain a distance of 10 feet between yourself and others unless you are from the same household, and there is only 1 person allowed per cleaning station. Of course, many people also head here to enjoy a nice walk before heading to the beach.
