Tossa de Mar is a resort town on Catalonia’s Girona coast in Spain. Its beautiful coastline has some 14 km of sandy beaches and small, sheltered coves, with mild temperatures year-round. Playa Grande is Tossa de Mar’s main beach – it has a wide range of facilities such as showers, sunbeds, and lifeguards, as well as playgrounds and traffic-free paths along the coast.
Tossa de Mar has many medieval structures that can make you feel as if you've been transported back in time. Its centrepiece is the imposing Castillo de Tossa de Mar, which overlooks the town and the Mediterranean Sea. The only surviving fortified medieval town along the Catalonian coastline, Villa Vella (old quarter) has well-preserved towers and defensive walls dating back to the 14th century.
