Visit the best wineries in Stuttgart and you’ll gain a better understanding of this important German wine-making region. Stuttgart and its surroundings traditionally cultivate white wines like Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc and light reds made with the Pinot Noir grape variety. The annual Weindorf festival is held in the city, where visitors can enjoy up to 500 wines. And there are 8 local ‘wine routes’ to explore as well as a Museum of Viniculture.
The Stuttgart area provides an ideal situation for growing grapes, as it‘s in the centre of a valley surrounded by steep hills. Many of those hills have become vineyards, tended by generations of German winemakers. Some of Stuttgart’s closest wineries are accessible by public transport, ideal if you’re short on time but want to enjoy a tour or wine tasting within easy commuting distance of the city.
