An interesting mix of comfortable, quaint, shabby chic and just plain shabby makes this cottage challenging to review! Overall, I was disappointed and felt that getting a few minor repairs done and providing better quality towels and bed linen would have made all the difference. On the plus side, it’s in a pretty village very near to the National Trust property of Oxborough Hall and has plenty of space for a couple or a small family, including a small garden. I stayed in March during a cold spell and found it quite chilly although a wood burning stove is available. The back bedroom with two single beds was adequately furnished with nice bedding and clean bed linen. Unfortunately, the double bedroom had bedding which appeared very worn and crumpled, hopefully from a tumble dryer and not from use! I did raise the issue in the “first night review” and received a call several days later offering fresh linen, but by then I had made my own arrangements for clean bedding. The carpet and downstairs blinds are lovely, adding to the cosiness, but minor issues with blinds upstairs (didn’t close properly) oven (irritating loud clicking whole time) and a wobbly back door knob (I want to feel secure when travelling!) spoiled what could otherwise be a beautiful little place.
