I was a bit worried since older reviews talked about smoke. Luckily I didn't notice much. When starting the AC there was a tiny bit of smell coming out, but it went away a bit later.
Seemingly, the building completely banned smoking a few months before my visit, so you probably should not worry about getting a room for smokers any more at this point.
The room seemed recently renovated for the most part, there were some small things that could require pollish, but nothing worth a negative comment. Old buildings are after all... old.
I suppose the most negative impression was the lobby, it was clean, but definitely sorely needed some renovation. Which gives a poor first impressions, making me worry a tiny bit, but the room was fine, which made me feel at ease.
The staff was very nice and helpful.
The train station is very close, and traveling to local Hotspots like Shibuya, Yoyogi, Shinjuku and Ikebukuro, only takes a a few minutes.
