What an excellent place this place is! Can't praise it enough. The bedroom and bathroom were huge: 4 poster bed, super modern bathroom. Numerous little extras made it all the better: bathrobes, slippers, bath salts, eye mask, fresh shortbread, milk, fridge, etc. The breakfasts were exceptional and delicious: the Full Scottish alone has tons of everything - including award winning haggis and black pudding - and I challenge anyone to eat it all in one go! Also they serve a daily scrumptious pin head (steel cut) porridge served with a changing variety of toppings. Every day they offered an alternative to the Full Scottish: our three days were BLT, french toast, and eggs Benedict. Host Isla was super helpful throughout - providing anything we needed: even champagne flutes! We used the Strathallan as a base for three days of hiking in the Cairngorms which are a comfortable half hour drive away. The generous and separate guest's lounge was a welcome rest for tired feet. The one downside (no fault of the host) is that there is NOWHERE decent to eat in Grantown apart from possibly the Garth Hotel Restaurant. I told Isla I wish she would cook dinners. This was easily one of the three best B&Bs we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in A LOT of posh / boutique ones in 20 years of travelling (the other two being in the Blue Mountains, Australia and Saltspring Island, British Columbia - also all booked through Hotels.com - and for the record, I'm not a Hotels.com stooge!).
