I enjoyed my stay at Boathouse Nanuya. The staff members are all very friendly, accommodating, and made my stay very comfortable. The welcome song and Isa Lei farewell song from the staff were also such a nice and personal touch. My one complaint is that the owner of the resort made me very uncomfortable from the moment I arrived, as he treated me like nothing but dollar signs. Although I was one of the only guests at the resort during my stay, he never bothered to introduce himself or learn my name. Yet each time I saw him, he was so pushy for me to spend my money. One morning, I wasn't even finished with my breakfast when he came over asking me what kind of pizza I wanted for lunch. When I told him I wasn't sure if I would be having lunch at the resort (as I planned to explore the island that day), he was very clearly annoyed as he just grunted and walked away without another word. Another time he did this same thing was when I returned from seeing the Sawa-i-Lau Caves with some friends I met. He very abruptly approached me and asked why I went to the caves with them instead of with the resort. When I told him it was because the resort was going to charge me for 2 people to take me to the caves (as they have a 2-person minimum for this excursion), he once again said nothing, grunted, and just rolled off in his golf cart. I felt obliged to leave this review so that other travelers have a heads up of the way this owner clearly has no problem treating his guests.
