Arrived at Bayview, paid key deposit at bar and made our way to the room on the first floor, such a disappointment, the worst hotel room we have ever stayed in. The window was propped open with a piece of wood, really grubby with cobwebs. The neon sign was directly outside this window. Two metal framed twin beds in an L shape, clean linen which was a godsend but the room was so small, not much room for anything else. The smoke detector attachment dangled aimlessly from the ceiling, no alarm attached, air conditioning was an electric fan. Carpet was grubby & stained.
The shared loo was a place to avoid, a wobbly bolt, no toilet paper, antique plumbing, not a good place to go and therefore decided to give the shower a miss as we were only staying one night.
Strangely enough the beds were quite comfortable, the one pillow was bolstered by using a grubby spare blanket found on a shelf of the makeshift cupboard and the black out blind shut out the neon light. Quite noisy as other residents were partying I think.
No breakfast facilities or hot drinks available, a cleaner in the empty bar downstairs went to find someone so that we could have our key deposit returned which was fine but were we happy with our stay? No, not at all. The room was small, grubby and sparse, the toilets were awful, we put it down to experience and will laugh about it in the future but for tired and weary travellers, not a good experience.
