Very traditional with excellent views
La Vista is set quite high up so if you're coming on the tourist bus (red line near stop 17) like us it's a bit of a mountain goat trek up the hill. If you have heavy bags it would be advisable to get a taxi. But when you get to the hotel the view is awesome.
I think all the rooms have a view, and we were lucky that Mt Fuji was visible and the day was lovely. The bathroom and balcony overlook the settlement below and the mountain.
The rooms are quite traditional but comfortable and clean. Ours had twin beds which were quite firm but I think this is standard for Japan. The TV had no English speaking channels so that was a waste of space. The staff were nice but most had poor English so there was a bit of confusion with a few things. We were told there was a light meal served in the bar at 6pm but when we went down there it was only a selection of 3 biscuits so poorly described (more "afternoon tea"). The restaurant was fully booked so we didn't really eat that night.
The breakfast was quite varied but more traditionally focussed than for Westerners. There were enough options but it was definitely aimed at locals not tourists.
Again tho, our main reason for booking the hotel was for the view, which was excellent. So all up I think we were happy with the choice and the view lived up to expectations.
