We've been coming to Molveno for years and really love the place. This year we decided to take a not-too-expensive place down near the lake where my little boy likes to play.
We chose Rio Piccolo because from the photos it looked great, was advertised as having a "lake view" and the cost seemed a bit lower than some of the other options.
Here's the reality:
(1) Room. Dark and small. The windows are oddly too small for the rooms, so even with the shades drawn the place gets very little natural light. The photos they advertise are of the top-floor suite, which they don't let. The kitchen is really a small, walk-in closet with no windows :-(
(2) Lake view. There isn't any. There's another hotel between Rio Piccolo and the lake. The view is of the parking lot of the "Hotel Bella Riva"
(3) Accessibility. If you like walking in the middle of a crowded street, then this is your place. There's no sidewalk on the roadway to get here. Remember the videogame "frogger" where you have to dodge traffic to cross the street so you don't get squashed? This is the real thing. Definately a show-stopper if you have kids.
(4) Cleaning staff. Checkout is at 10:00 am. But that doesn't stop the cleaning staff from banging on your door at 9:30 asking you to hurry up and leave. Absolutely unacceptable.
Like I said, Molveno is a wonderful place, and my family and I have had great times in this town.
But the bottom line is: avoid Rio Piccolo.
You can find much better and still stay within your budget.
