The manager gave an invalid phone number to Expedia, so hard to reach him to check-in. When finally located, he said Expedia was in error to confirm a one-bedroom suite. He offered me a regular studio instead, but said he would pay no compensation for the price difference because it was Expedia's fault. I declined, and asked him why he hadn't cancelled the reservation for a room he does not have. He said Expedia was not answering their phone, and, in any event, it was now my responsibility to cancel the reservation and pay a cancellation penalty, because he had offered me an "accommodation." At that point, I told him to take a hike. . . .I called Expedia (who answered on the first ring), and they took excellent care of me. So 5 stars for Expedia, and 0 stars for this "Seven Doors in Gramercy" outfit.
