The owners have done a good job with a simple, minimalist approach to design and service, which makes Aelia a peaceful retreat on the fringes of bustling Mykinos hotspots. It's ideal for travelers looking for a serene and stylish base camp (on a budget) to explore the island.
Aelia is located just on the outside of Ornos, which is just in striking distance of the main town, and close to great beaches on the south side of the island. Ornos itself is 5 minute walk, and that has plenty of restaurants etc. Its not like everything is on your doorstep, you'll need transport, but just far enough away for a bit of piece and quiet.
The villas are all pretty new, which is a good thing as many places in Greece are old and and a bit worse for wear. The rooms are very well appointed, well designed, and comfortable. For that alone, this place is great value for money. The villas have their own outdoor seating area and, though simple, they are very spacious. Buildings are also well spaced out, so no disturbances from other guests.
This is a family run place, so you won't see many staff around, but they still do a great job. The premises are well maintained and they go out of their way to make your stay easy and enjoyable, with rides to and form the port and warm, personable attitudes. Again, sticking with stylish and simple, breakfast is worth a wake-up call if you so desire.
Overall, Aelia offers great value for money and even locals were quietly impressed.
