Overall, I would recommend avoiding the Victoria hotel. I stayed here a couple of years ago, and I think it has gone downhill. The bed was clean and comfortable, but it feels shabby. The tile and the carpet on the floor don’t meet, leaving a dirty gap. The kitchen does not have a coffee maker, and there was only one fork. The bathroom sink did not drain, the toilet tank valve was faulty, and the toilet brush was lying on the floor. The window was quite dirty, and while I appreciate having a table and two chairs, the chairs did not really look clean enough to sit on, and unfortunately, the lobby and the hallways smell of cooking odors. Finally, I know that the hosts cannot control the behaviour of all their guests, but there was an extended period of noise in the night from others in the hallway, talking and shouting. As much as I like to stay in independent hotels rather than chains , the Victoria Hotel should be avoided. I had booked two nights, but left after one. The woman at the desk just took my key without even asking why I was leaving early or if I had any concerns about the room.
