I have traveled to almost 100 countries and this was probably my most uncomfortable stay ever. Yes, you tend to get what you pay for and it was a very cheap place. Also, it’s Central America, so not being able to go out at night is not unusual (the cab driver told me, the neighborhood was too dangerous). However, I just didn’t feel very safe in my room either. The lock on the door seemed weak, but I always put the suitcase in front of it, anyways. However, there is also a huge sliding window by the bed that leads out into the hallway which couldn’t be properly locked…I eventually decided to sleep with the lights on. Also, due to this situation and the absent safe, I had to take all my valuables and passport with me on excursions. There was a cockroach in my room and the showerhead was so full of black goo that I decided against washing my hair during my entire stay. The bed at least was clean and the ladies working there were extremely kind (even if they didn’t speak any English). There is also a small tienda across the street, where you can buy snacks at reasonable prices. Nonetheless- I would not recommend this place to solo travelers. For any others: you get what you pay for and might be better off, paying a little more.
