We stayed here one night, mostly to see the ruins, which are a 10-15 walk from the hotel.
First the bad: We stayed in low season (May), and with few guests at the hotel, there often was not any staff there (there are upfront about this). English was limited if you rely on that. The shower handle came off of the wall, though I'm sure that's fixed by now. Were were awoken early by a nearby rooster.
The good: Staff was friendly and willing to communicate in their limited English and out limited Italian. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, with a small balcony. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station (which would have been about a 20 minute walk). The side of the ruins where we stayed is surrounded by farmland and countryside, quite peaceful aside from the rooster. Free bicycles for loan.
Best breakfast we had during our stay in Italy! In addition to the standard bread, coffee, and pastries, there was fresh fruit, freshly made kiwi juice, yogurt, and farm fresh eggs cooked to order. Well worth a stay.
