Ok stay but won’t be back. We were in town for an event in the Northern part of cold Lake. I booked this hotel specifically because they are both pet friendly & have a pool. Most hotels in Cold Lake only offer one & we were travelling with our dog. This hotel is located South of Cold Lake, so it added more time & gas to our drive, it was also substantially more expensive than my other options. Fair enough, I wanted a pool & a pet friendly hotel. I’ll pay to have both. We checked in late after a long drive from Calgary and unpacked. Only to find out the pool was indefinitely closed to do a maintenance issue.
I completely understand it’s not the hotels fault. It’s out of their control. I would have preferred to know this when booking online. I would have booked a hotel closer to our final destination that was cheaper.
When I told the front desk staff, she was kind of abrasive and said she couldn’t do anything and I’d have to speak to a manager.
The next morning I spoke to a manager, a woman who gave me a big story about what happened with the pool but didn’t seem willing to compensate me for the extra amenities I had paid for but they weren’t able to deliver on. Another manager overheard and quickly came over right away to give me a discount. I was very impressed with his kindness, understanding and excellent customer service skills. He was wonderful and was able to give me a small discount. I’m appreciative for that, but I won’t pay that much to stay there again.
