Breakfast good, the rest was not
Tried checking in early after 1pm due to trip logistics and was told to come back after 3pm. Held our luggage which was appreciated. Came back after 4pm and told rooms not ready. Waited for a “manager to do a final check” which took almost 30 minutes. Two travel weary families with all our luggage waited in the lobby.
Then our room air conditioning was insufficient. Asked for it to be sorted while we went out for dinner. Came back to same problem and asked for help again only to learn their resolution was to keep turning down the thermostat temp (which isn’t the issue and doesn’t result in cool air). Third escalation resulted in waiting 2 hours for a fan to be delivered. Attendant at front desk couldn’t leave his post because he was the only hotel employee for the evening! This is not safe. Went to the lobby with our families to enjoy the TV, lounge and fireplace only to find out that the fireplace wasn’t working. The attendant was unable to get it working and actually had the gas running without being lit for too long. We had to tell him ourselves to stop the gas and let it dissipate due to safety reasons. The TV didn’t have the event on we wanted and the attendant didn’t know how to toggle the TV either.
On the second night our family was parking the car and the San Diego police arresting a man in the back lot of the building. Also we think we watched 2 separate evictions of squatters by police from the adjacent residence/motel.
