My wife and I came to Sri Lanka for our honeymoon. We found the local language to be a bit of a barrier and couldn't
get around as easily on our own. Nayana from Thotupula Lakeside Resorts, genuinely helped us out in a manner, where we have never been helped before. She helped us co-ordinate the rest of the trip as per our preferences and budget and also kept in touch with us to make sure the rest of our trip went as planned.
I have nothing but great things to say about the place and the staff, if you are the kind of person who enjoys
checking-in and not venturing out, there are numerous in-resort activities that you can indulge in: wall climbing,
aerial rope , kayaking and a swimming pool. If you crave Sri Lankan
cuisine: the in-hotel prices are comparable to driving outside and eating out. From string hoppers for breakfast
with fish curry to Sri Lankan dal, chilli chicken, fried rice and their local desert, all of them come in generous
quantities making sure you are not left hungry. The hotel staff are extremely open to your comments and will happily
change anything if needed. Since we were on our honeymoon, the staff also arranged to provide us with a complimentary fruit basket, which lead to a feeling of being truly cared for. Additionally, on check-out day we had to leave earlier before breakfast, on notifying the staff they arranged to pack us sandwiches and fruits in lieu of not being able to serve us proper breakfast.
