It was a good experience when thinking about DR(Dominican Republic). The area was good because there were so many people walking all over the streets. There were buses nearby, which are very cheap, but we were chosen to take taxis for all of our times in DR because it was safer.
Mr. Oscar so many times called the taxis for us, and we just let the drivers know where we wanted to go. The fare was not too much, but because we did not have Dominican pesos at first one of the drivers double the money, and we ended up to triple the money for tips.Over all, taking a taxi is very cheap over there. Some drivers charged 200 Dominican Pesos; some charged 300 Dominican Pesos, and some charged 250 Dominican Pesos, which equals to $ 4, $ 4:50, and $6 US. for almost the same locations.
However, if you are travelling, make sure you have someone who speaks some little Spanish; otherwise, it would be very disappointed for you. Further, you have to make sure that you have changed your US dollars to Dominican Pesos; thus, you may end up hungry because some of the stores do not accept the U.S. dollars.
