We recently stayed at Room Mate Aitana in Amsterdam. The hotel itself is modern, stylish, and in a fantastic location—close to the city centre but with a calm, scenic atmosphere by the water. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall design of the hotel is impressive, with a clean, contemporary feel.
However, we did experience an issue with the air conditioning in our room from Tuesday to Thursday. It was blowing cold air continuously and couldn’t be turned off. While blow heaters were provided, these weren’t practical for overnight use, and we woke up cold each morning. On Thursday, it seemed maintenance had been in, as the air started blowing warmer, but it still couldn’t be switched off—resulting in dry, hot air blowing all night, which made it uncomfortable to sleep. Unfortunately, we became unwell afterwards, which we believe was due to the constant exposure to the changing air, particularly as one of us has asthma.
To improve the experience, we would recommend the hotel provide slippers and bathrobes in the rooms—not only for added comfort but also because the tiled floors can feel quite cold, especially in the mornings.
Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel in a great location, but we hope future guests will have a more comfortable stay with these improvements in place.
