Best bet for Ethiopia! Scary neighborhood but SAFE
We got there for a overnight to catch a flight early morning. I've read some good reviews regarding the hotel so I gave it a shot. We got to the airport and the transfer was waiting for us (we were 1hour late because of flight delay) and the person from the hotel was really friendly. We got into a van that had no hotel stickers or anything, and since there were armed guards outside the airport we tought that was a scary city. We drove 10min into a highway and then the driver turns right into a dark muddy road that I thought it was a trap or something, my girlfriend was really scared. 30 seconds later I saw the hotel sign and was relieved. The neighborhood is really poor like almost 95% of hotel surrondings in the city. Hotel IS really good and the service is impressive. People really want you to have a good time and are super polite and helpful. They welcome you with a bottle of water and the restaurant has OK food with really cheap price. We left in the morning and we could see better the slums around the hotel, lot of poor people but no heavy athmosphere of drugs or whatever. In the night, who knows. I recommend the hotel !! Heard some other people had a really bad experience in other hotels, all provided by Ethiopian Airlines ! Always keep your money and documents with you ! Thanks Tizeze for the great hospitality !
