This is an ecolodge. The grounds are a paradise, a Garden of Eden in the middle of the rain forest, the attention devoted to the gardening and outdoor milieu is remarkable, the work of a lifetime and of love. We highly recommend staying here, extended our initial two nights to four. For the price it is an absolute steal.
The rooms (cabins) are spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen and pleasant furnishings, but in rustic style. Very comfortable, but not luxurious if that is what you are looking for. Internet is spotty in the rooms, no coffee in the rooms and no a/c (though the fans were enough most of the time). Pool is for cooling off only, not big enough to swim. Breakfast is a simple version of the standard Costa Rican breakfast. Do not eat other meals here, we had a dinner which was simply terrible. The staff is friendly, but with the exception of the owner and front desk do not speak English.
We loved staying here, it is a paradise, but there is a tension between the loving effort they devoted to the grounds, cabins, the exterior, and the level of service provided. There is a feeling that everything has been very carefully measured, e.g. you get just a certain amount of fruit for breakfast, not more.
So we recommend forgetting the limited problems and highkly recommend staying here.
