The room (two bedroom apartment actually) was adequate for our needs. we were three guys visiting for fishing and beach time after a long Michigan winter. The bedrooms were quiet, comfortable and air conditioned. The bathroom was fine, and the towels and linens provided were just right. The kitchen had a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker and pots and plates and utensils. No bugs, no smells, no dirt.
Freeman Smith, the general manager, was courteous and attentive. He was able to provide meals when we needed them even though we did not purchase the all-included meal plan. He was also a great help in referring us to fishing guides and snorkel diving operators. The local restaurant, Skipper's, just down the beach, was great for dinner almost every night.
That all said, it was not perfect. Expedia charged my credit card for all four nights lodging in January when I made the reservation, rather than when we actually used the room. When reservations were made, the lodge advertised a complimentary continental breakfast, which did not exist when we arrived in April. Similarly, shuttle from the airport was to be complimentary, but we had to pay the taxi driver $40 each way (even though the absentee proprietor Nathan had told me the taxi would be $20). Some would call the furnishings shabby, and the decor less than first class. For instance, it appeared that a crack in the kitchen wall had been repaired, and when the new plaster was painted, it was another color.
