Because we're not the rustic style types we booked the newer, accessible 2 br cottage, called 'Hanalei'. Comfortably, sensibly and attractively furnished with everything we (three of us, including two teenagers) needed. Thoughtful inclusions in the kitchen to make self-catering easier, plus the offer at reception to help out with extras like spices. Roll-in/out shower and ramp access to entrance of course. Surprisingly spacious especially in the bathroom/laundry. 10km drive to Bicheno which I decided I didn't want to do at night - so we stayed in and watched DVDs from the library at reception. Comfy beds. Verandah overlooking park-like grounds populated by foraging chooks and with quirky features. Stroll through grounds to gorgeous Denison Beach. This place would be magnificent in summer when guests could best take advantage of the outdoors, but we found the cottage cosy and comfy in cold weather too with three very effective wall panel heaters. No dishwasher, which did not trouble me. Only concern was finding that some items in the kitchen cupboards had not been washed properly by a previous guest (a problem often found in serviced accommodation). Otherwise the whole cottage was perfectly clean.
Would love to return one day.
