We had a very interesting experience at la Maison Maure. When we arrived owner was super friendly and gave us mint tea and had a general chat. There was no booklet or offers of tours or trips or nearby eateries. We asked all this to owner and he was very accommodating and we booked 2 trips that we wanted to do, city tour 400 dirham and day trip to Chefchaouen 1800 dirham and found out where to eat nearby. Most other accomodation have a booklet either near reception or in each room with tourist info. Being a typical Australian I told owner I like a cold refreshment when I get back to riad of an evening. Told of course, will have some waiting. After coming back from days outing, asked staff member for refreshment and he said riad is not allowed to give. He got owner and I was told there are police checks and drinking prohibited except in room. In future bought our own at Carfour supermarket 10 mins away, quite cheap too, 10diham a can. Why couldn’t owner of said that in first place if not allowed to sell. The rooms are spotless 10/10 but toilet off bedroom has no fan/ventilation, keep away from the tagine’s!! The small shower has no door/curtain can be awkward at times as we had our 18 year old staying with us. The terraces are by far the best thing we loved. Amazing views over Fez, there are 2 terraces and both incredible. Coffee mugs can be handy at times as no alcohol allowed on public display. Only other disappointment was very loud, people talking until 2am one night
