We accidentally booked Hampton South instead of our usual stay at Hampton West, and I must say, this location is a major disappointment and a disservice to the brand. The hotel is outdated, with musty odors, dirty carpets, worn-out furniture, and unhelpful staff.
We were placed in a King Suite on the second floor, and the carpet near the elevator is visibly scrunched up—clearly in need of replacement for at least two decades.
Our room reeked of cigarette smoke, and when I brought this to the front desk’s attention, they offered no solution. The next day, I received a text asking about our stay, to which I responded that it was not good and that I wanted to check out and move to Hampton West. The reply I received was simply, “Come check out. Unfortunately, since you prepaid, it’s non-refundable.” When I pointed out that this response contradicted Hampton’s satisfaction guarantee, the employee never replied.
The breakfast setup also fell short—using single-use plates and cutlery, unlike Hampton West in Edmonton. Every aspect of the stay, from service to amenities, felt like a budget motel experience at best.
Hampton’s management at this location needs serious intervention, or Hilton should consider selling it altogether
