I am not accustomed to staying in hostels, so this was a new experience for me. The place felt quite sterile (unlike the often welcoming atmosphere of hotels), much like a college dorm. The rooms were sparse, with twin beds topped with cheap mattresses. You needed to pay extra for towels and breakfast, and the only soap they provided was liquid hand soap from a box on the wall. The Wi-Fi was spotty and didn't work in my room, let alone on our floor; it also didn't always work in the designated Wi-Fi zones. All-in-all, it was a very cheap experience.
That said, it was not an expensive hotel (though, maybe a little expensive for a hostel); it was very clean (including the sheets, which my wife dutifully checked before climbing in to bed); the TV also cost, which made it easier to get the kids to bed; and while we might not have been in the best area, it was secure and fairly quiet.
