The concept is novel and well executed. We were staying as part of a cycling tour down the Via Rhona, for which the location is perfect, with bespoke secure bike storage. The town is beautiful with lots of great restaurants, but I suggest you book ahead of time as they all get busy.
The one big challenge we had was checking in. Having booked via Hotels.com we were sent links to complete profiles for all guests. This was a pain, because we had cycled all day and desperately wanted to get showered and changed. Even more so, because the website, is the worst I’ve experienced since about 1998. I am in the tech industry, and it was simply impossible to complete the check-in on-line to access the codes we needed to physically access the boat.
Luckily a lovely lady on the companion bar/cafe boat intervened and helped. Even then, one has to access web-services to download a browser app to access the different areas of the boat. Without her intervention I genuinely think we may have had no option but to book into an alternative hotel.
Perhaps over time they will improve the check-in, but unless you’re very confident using tech on your mobile phone, this place is probably best avoided.
Such a shame as aside from this, it’s excellent in all regards.
