Booking experience spoiled stay
The booking process was chaotic and tainted the whole experience. Booked a two night stay paying in full through hotels.com. Following day received acknowledgement from travelstaytion acknowledging payment of a considerably lesser amount. Then an email from Host and Stay raising a damage waiver which we were unaware of. An expensive insurance for a two night stay the alternative being an expensive bond refundable less an admin fee. Emails from companies you haven’t dealt with containing links seem like a scam so phoned the number on the email and was told I hadn’t paid for the stay and owed another different amount. Disputed this and unhelpful person told me to contact bank. Ignored this and after a couple of days received further request for waiver insurance. I have never experienced this before and was surprised to have a payment imposed after booking and payment in full. Reluctantly paid and received check in instructions including WiFi code and password which was incorrect as was the one at the property. Confirmed in note left by previous occupant. No WiFi. At property found dirty mug chipped bowl, sofa cushion not attached to sofa so is slumped. Debris under sofa cushions, dirt and slug trail inside front door. Two clocks neither of which work. Blinds look good but you can read a book at 5am in the bedroom in July. Dirty overgrown bin/ recycling area.
Nice shower and handy for castle.
