The staff were all very nice and accommodating, but the hotel was not at all what I was expecting from the photos and description. The hotel is old, the furniture is old and tired-looking and the bed was not at all comfortable. We stayed early October and it was still fairly humid out, but the AC had been turned off. We had to open windows which faced a VERY busy and noisy road. There were guests talking loudly and constantly smoking below our room until very late at night and all that came right into our room. Guests were working on something in the parking area and making loud motor noise until after 20:00. I don’t understand why staff allowed this. Bugs came in the open windows so we had to put the shutters down and it felt like we were in a hot box. Thankfully I had a small fan, but it provided very little relief. Breakfast was adequate with pastries, yogurt and cold cuts. The coffee was very good. The restaurant is next door and does not open until 7 for dinner. Food was very good and staff were helpful. There was a bit of a language barrier, but the dinner was very good. The location is convenient as it is right off the highway, but that also adds to the noise, as did the trains speeding by. Although the staff were very nice, if I were to travel to Orvieto again, I would look for a different hotel to stay in.
