Arrived at the beautiful building that is Baylis House only to be told is a restaurant now and the hotel is at the side. After trapsing round the building we found the entrance to the hotel. Our rooms were in yet another building across a courtyard. Once we got to the building with the rooms, which was shared with wedding venues, we were disappointed. The building had dirty floors, stairs had stains, generally had the feel of an unkempt hostel. Our key card didnt work so 2 trips back to the reception building.
Were offered another room but that had damp so back to original room once keycard lock was fixed.
Rooms are tired too. Our room had a missing door on the wardrobe. The shower was just above a trickle. Carpet was not clean. Wore slipper throughout our stay.
There was thumping music till late from the wedding venues. Didnt sleep till after midnight.
Overall, the pictures are misleading. The rooms are in a very very tired, unloved and uncared for block. Needs a decent makeover and regular cleaning as it hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner, mop of polish in ages. Furniture in communal areas is dire.
We were only booked for one night thank goodness.
