I must respectfully disagree with the 5-star reviews and I’ll be fair with the good and the bad. The PROs: the hotel is fairly new and the room are large and mostly clean. The CONs: it’s not remotely close to anything, no restaurants or services. Even local tour guides and taxi drivers cannot find this place!! The owner charged 5x the cost of a Careem(Uber equivalent) to get us from the airport. He was way too pushy about having us book tours with him, which we didn’t do because booking online with Viator or other agencies was far less expensive. He wanted us to pay for dinner (again, very expensive by local standards) and the airport transfer only with US dollars, for which he can exchange on the black market. He very reluctantly accepted Egyptian currency, which the law says he should do.
The hotel also provides no shampoo or conditioner. The bare minimum of towels. Even though there’s a kitchen, there’s no pots or pans. Even when shampoo was requested, he wouldn’t provide it. So chintzy!
I cannot recommend Royal Mountain to other tourists. It’s a hassle to find, very far from the East Bank where Karnak Temple is, and most restaurants. The owner is cheap and money grubbing.
