We stayed over New Year and had a great time. We walked to the Flegere Ski Lift a couple of mornings, (amongst the best 'sun-facing' pistes in the resort) and other times we hopped on the ChamBus across the street from the hotel to get to the other slopes. We nipped in and out of town most evenings to meet non-skiing friends in the centre of Chamonix. The hotel itself is a modernised classic alpine building, clean, tidy, warm & comfortable, with plenty of hot water in the room... Wi-fi free on all floors was from 3 different routers so was always a pretty decent speed. Downstairs in the bar the fireplace was very welcoming and the staff were all good humoured, pleasant company when they had time to chat. Also there's a gourmet restaurant, which we didn't try but it seemed busy every night with happy diners - a good sign. I've visited Chamonix many times since 1997, this was the best all round accommodation I've used. (Location, price, comfort)
