I’ll keep it short because there really is too much to say. We arrived and the hotel had no idea that we were staying even though I had my booking in front of me. We finally got into our room late at night. I was flat out asleep and the receptionist said I needed to ‘provide my papers’ as proof of my stay there. I went downstairs and she shouted saying ‘you need to show your papers! What do I tell head office?! What do I do?! I don’t know who you are’. This was finally sorted, very unfriendly staff.
The hotel is very dated, I found out whilst there that they are using photos from 20 years ago to promote their hotel. Also, it’s advertised as a 4 star. This rating is given by the local council, not anybody in the UK or elsewhere.
Whilst we found the hotel clean. It desperately needs a complete overhaul. The food is mediocre, which isn’t an issue for us, we ate out every day, and do us, we would never go abroad and stay in a hotel for the entire duration anyway, but for those who do, this would potentially be an issue.
We ended up hiring a car and spending as little time there as possible.
It’s not horrendous but it’s FAR from what they advertise.
I would go elsewhere if you are looking at this hotel, but fully do your research. We had friends staying at a 5 star hotel 10 minutes away and they were far from happy with theirs as well!
