The Hoxton Hotel, Holborn is in a central and convenient location. The decor is stylish and trendy. We were upgraded to the largest room category, which was a thoughtful touch. However the bed was incredibly squeaky and made for less-than-ideal sleep quality.
Unfortunately, our experience was significantly marred by issues with payment. We had made two separate reservations and promptly paid for the first one upon check-in, as confirmed by the front desk staff. Despite the Hoxton's policy of taking payment during check-out, our keycards were disabled two days before our scheduled departure, and we were asked to make payment again while we were out. This was both inconvenient and frustrating.
To complicate matters further, during check-out, we were assured that everything had been resolved, and we left with an invoice confirming no outstanding payments. However, a few days later, we received an email claiming we had not paid for one of the nights. Without proper investigation, the hotel charged both of our cards (the one we used to book online and the physical one we had used to pay at the front desk) multiple times for the entire stay, which caused the cards to be blocked.
We provided invoices and bank statements proving the payments had already been made, but it still took a couple days for the hotel to release the charges. This situation created unnecessary stress and significantly detracted from our overall experience. I would hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.
