I stayed in one of annex rooms off the main Hotel building. The room was very clean and very well presented. I rarely sleep well away from home but I found the bed very comfortable and I slept surprisingly well!
En suite bathrooms were good too.
All of the staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
The pub itself was welcoming and a great place to sit. It does get busy at peak times but I would be surprised if it didn't!
The only Flaw:
The food was well cooked and very tasty. It is traditional pub food, so could be considered a small menu but there was a good choice.
However, the time it took to get food seemed unreasonable. On a not-busy evening, it took nearly 45 mins from ordering (pie and chips and vegetable dish)
, and at breakfast it took over 30 mins for eggs on toast (eggs Benedict).
It's not a deal breaker as the hotel and accommodation are great but due to the delays in food, we chose to eat elsewhere. A shame as the food (when it came) was very nice!
Overall, a recommended stay.
