For years, this hotel was my preferred choice, a destination I consistently enjoyed. However, my recent stay revealed a drop in standards, leaving me disappointed and unlikely to return.
Extortionate Pricing and Reduced Menu: The dining experience was a significant letdown. The menu has been shortened, and prices have skyrocketed. A simple solo meal and drink now easily exceeds £30, excluding the tray charge.
Rubbish Room Service app: The newly implemented room service app didn’t accept card payments. Furthermore, calls to the traditional room service line went unanswered. Forced to walk to the restaurant, I opted to dine there to avoid the £5.50 tray charge.
Deteriorating Facilities: The pool, steam room, and sauna have clearly seen better days. Visible signs of wear, including cracked tiles, peeling paint, and visible patching, were evident. The steam room was out of service throughout my stay, preventing me from fully utilizing the advertised amenities.
Restricted Pool Access: The hotel fails to inform guests that half the pool is reserved for club members. This led to an awkward situation where I inadvertently swam in a reserved lane. While the member was polite, the lack of clear communication from staff was frustrating.
Unjustified Parking Charge: The introduction of a £10 daily parking fee was a particularly unwelcome surprise. While mentioned in the description, this fee was never previously applied, and no added value justifies the cost.
