It took me 3 attempts to find a room that did not have a problem. The lock on the door of the first room did not work and it would not open. The staff changed me to another room - the desk light in the second room did not work properly and it would randomly flicker on and off - also, when off, one could hear the mains power crackling which, to me, is a dangerous fire hazard. The final, 3rd room was okay, it worked okay but had a very dirty and stained carpet - it too me over an hour to get to this point. The Reception Staff did try to help as best they could but there was no one that could help them or me.
Breakfast the next day was poorly serviced. I got to breakfast at 9:15am and found - no scrambled egg, no black pudding, no bacon, no beans, orange juice dispenser finished, no smoked salmon. To give them their due, the staff, when I mentioned these, made great efforts to fix these problems.
My summary is that the hotel is in a good location but it is in serious need of refurbishment. Add to this, it was apparent that the hotel was seriously understaffed with friendly and helpful staff members doing the best that they could manage with no available resource. Everyone did the best that they could.
