Here’s why I gave a low rating:
The hotel itself is clean and in a great location near the beach, but my experience at TRYP Wyndham Isla Verde was frustrating.
1. Not-so-great service: I booked through Expedia and paid for breakfast in advance, but when I checked in, I had to argue for almost 90 minutes at the front desk to get the breakfast coupons. I ended up waiting for the manager to arrive around 9:30 AM, and by the time it was resolved (close to 9:50 AM), breakfast was practically over. My family couldn’t enjoy the meal we had already paid for.
2. Noise issues: There’s loud music outside at night and early morning. While it’s not entirely the hotel’s fault, it definitely disturbed my sleep.
3. Untrained front desk staff: Customer service was lacking, and the attitude felt like they were doing me a favor. For example, I never received my email receipt, even after giving my email address multiple times—to Expedia, during check-in, and at check-out. When I called to request it later, I had to give my email again, and the staff’s tone was far from helpful. If I opt for an email receipt, it’s the hotel’s responsibility to send it.
For the price I paid, I expected much better service. Honestly, for the same rate, I could stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia and have a completely different experience.
The good parts? The location, hot breakfast (if you can actually get it), and cleanliness. The downsides? Poor service, noise, and low value for the high price I paid
