The check in staff was very nice, however the actual hotel property was in shambles. We stopped here without knowing what we were getting ourselves into. We checked in at 9 pm and left at 1:00 AM. $80 bucks lost and down the drain. I guess you get what you pay for. The cleanliness of the room didn’t seem too horrible at first glance, but once you look a little harder you can tell that this place is run down. Mid conversation with my husband and we saw the biggest cockroach I’ve ever seen in my life walking above the bed. I immediately packed my bags and left. I knew when we picked up our Pizza Hut order from down the street and the woman said “Y'all be careful out there now” that Emporia was not a safe place to stay, and it is indeed true as it apparently has one of the highest crime rates in America. If you’re headed up north do yourself a favor and stay at the Tru by Hilton Hotel in Thornton, it’s worth the extra drive, We ended up finally getting to bed at 6 AM the next day. Do yourself a favor and do not stay in emporia. I would like to mention that the man at the front desk took a video recording of the cockroach and said he would speak to his manager, but in reality I don’t think this place is savable given where it’s at. However I appreciate him for being very nice, and offering us another room.. but after that I just couldn’t stay there. Wish we could get our money back.
