My stay at the Hilton Playa del Carmen was a mixed experience. On the positive side, the hotel exuded a modern and inviting atmosphere. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The dining options offered a variety of delicious choices, with the breakfast buffet being a particular highlight.
However, my main concern centered around the pool area. Playa del Carmen's scorching temperatures necessitated shade, which was only available through a $100 bungalow rental. This additional cost felt excessive for a premium hotel. Providing complimentary shaded areas or umbrellas would have been more guest-friendly.
Another drawback was the persistent push for add-on purchases by the staff. While upselling is common, it felt excessive and detracted from the overall experience.
In summary, the Hilton Playa del Carmen is a good hotel with comfortable rooms and excellent dining. Yet, the lack of shade at the pool and constant upselling diminish the overall experience. If you stay here, be prepared for additional expenses and the Mexican sun.
