This was my first stay at an Avid. It is definitely basic, but basic in a good way. They did a great job with laying the rooms out very efficiently with hooks on the wall instead of a closet and shelves for your clothes. The room has a desk area and the wifi worked great. You don't get a microwave in your room, but there is a microwave in the breakfast area for anyone's use at any time.
Outside the room, the workout room was well equipped with free weights, a weight machine tower, and two treadmills. The lounge was comfy and the breakfast seating area was spacious. You can even sit outside if you'd like.
The only reason I took off one star was because of breakast. It isn't a hot breakfast buffet like you'd expect to get. It's more grab and go. They did have breakfast sausage sandwiches and cheese omelets when we first arrived, but then they only had the breakfast sandwiches which with sausage, isn't vegetarian -friendly. But, they had all the other items, like bagels, muffins, fruit, boiled eggs, and cereal so all was not lost.
The staff was amazing from the housekeepers to the front desk. I stayed for a week and it was very quiet on the floors. I liked it enough that I'm staying again for another week. It's not Holiday Inn Express, but you wouldn't notice other than the breakfast and lack of a microwave in room, which frankly, I never used anyway.
