We arrived earlier than our check-in time but wanted to leave our bags at the hotel whilst we explored. The staff member accommodated this.
The staff member had informed us that check-in was between 15:00 and 16:00. We arrived back at the hotel around 15:15, but the room was not ready. We waited in the foyer but were not provided with a room key until 16:10, yet another couple who arrived after us were allocated their room key around 15:30.
The room itself was spacious and tidy. Ideal for a couple of nights stay. The housekeeper has even provided a slice of cake with “Happy Birthday” written on the plate, as a gesture for my partners birthday.
A couple of minor downsides to the room, the bin in the bathroom had not been emptied - it contained make-up removal wipes and tissues. As well, we would occasionally hear loud, gushing water as though it was travelling from the room above. Not sure if this was running through pipes between the walls or the outside pipes, but it was noticeable.
The lobby is striking as you walk in. The fireplaces, the chesterfields, the soft jazz music, and the bar in the corner really create that swanky, roaring 1920’s feel.
The location is superb. It is just at the top of Temple Bar high street, so its stone’s throw away from the action, yet just out of reach from the raucous atmosphere.
