Poor cleanliness, poor breakfast, poor value
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, however processes used by the chain are unhelpful to those on business (no invoice/receipt/proof of stay, for those having pre-paid).
The room was poor - of itself, and notably for the price. Dirty and tired (splatters which could easily be removed, and stains, on chairs; hair and small debris between bed and side table; urine stained silicone around toilet; disgusting loo brush; black mould around bath; dodgy ceiling panel) - most people would find this unacceptable at any price, but especially at £130-170 per night. A minor but important point - the Fire Plan for the 4th floor rooms (mine, at least) showed a different floor, with different configurations. The 4th floor is hard to negotiate with suitcases due to sloping ceilings, many corners, and excessive fire doors set closed.
Breakfast service was poor (staff moaning about stuff, blocking the coffee machines) and the quality especially poor - bad machine coffee, dry reconstituted scrambled egg, curled up and dry cheese slices, the cheapest imaginable paste-tasting yogurt).
