We stayed for one night and found it strange that we had to go and find someone to check us in as reception was locked and no one answered the bell. Same problem when checking out - staff downstairs in the dining room. Lovely hotel in a great position but why on earth did our room have no heating on in the middle of January? We had a portable heater which offered little warmth in a room with single glazing. Got into bed early but quilt was a summer weight and no blankets in the room. Heating returned next morning so can only assume it was a cost saving exercise and was on a timer. Bed was comfortable and breakfast was good with small croissants, pastries, cereal, fruit salad, yoghurt etc plus a very good full English or choice from menu. Staff were friendly & polite. Parking was onsite and we were given a token to put in the window of the car to show we were residents. On the whole a good stay but the heating lost them a star as did a barking dog next to our room - hadn’t realised it was a dog-friendly hotel so our fault on that one.
