My father and I stayed at the the Far View Lodge in Mesa Verde National Park. The location was fantastic from a convenience standpoint, as it saved us from the long, twisty drive up the road.
However, the rest of our stay was disappointing. Upon entering our room, there was a strong, unpleasant odor from the bathroom. I called the front desk, but they said they were sold out and couldn't move us, despite me seeing empty rooms. I accepted meal vouchers instead of a refund, as finding a last-minute hotel 25 miles away was not an option.
We also found a broken chair on our balcony. A replacement was delivered 30 minutes later. The room was basic—it had a small fridge and coffee maker, but no TV which was ok. More concerning, the advertised Wi-Fi didn't work in our building as we had no cell coverage.
The next morning, there was no soap or shampoo. The manager blamed this on "supply chain issues" and said the bathroom odor was a known maintenance problem that was never communicated to staff. It seems like the hotel, run by Aramark, needs to have higher standards.
While the location is great, I'm not sure I would stay again unless I knew improvements had been made.
