My family and I were looking forward to a relaxing visit to New Orleans and chose to stay at the Crowne Plaza Astor, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for.
Upon arrival, even though it was late, there was a significant line at check-in, and the staff seemed indifferent to moving the process along quickly. We had booked a suite for 2 adults and 3 children, but when we entered the room, it wasn’t properly set up for five people. When I inquired about the children's bedding, I was told that they hadn't received the request from our third-party reservation (Hotels.com). This was frustrating, as I had specifically mentioned the number of people in the room when making the reservation, and I was charged for a suite with five people.
There were also several maintenance issues in the room. The shower didn’t work properly, with both the shower head and faucet having issues. Additionally, the air conditioning only had two settings: Arctic Blast or Off, which made it hard to get comfortable. Overall, the hotel’s maintenance appeared to be lacking.
On a positive note, we had dinner at the hotel, and the food was pretty good, although I understand the restaurant isn’t affiliated with the Crowne Plaza Astor. The location of the hotel is fantastic, and that was definitely the highlight of our stay. However, if you're driving, be prepared to pay $55 per day for parking, which felt excessive.
