I went 30 miles with my taxi do you find it a dirty, incompetent hotel staff. The woman was sitting at a desk and informed me first of all that I would have to pay cash. I went to the ATM machine across from her desk but it was not functional. Then I asked for the hotel to reimburse my driver because I had paid for the specific room that the hotel on your website, Hotels.com, said would include a free airport shuttle. She denied it said that. So I didn’t look it up and it explained and showed her the facts. She kept disputing it in spite of reality And I begin to get frustrated. She got her boss. “Jay” on the phone. I told him I was in Dominican Republic to lecture on business and I would be sure to use this mini case to start off. Also that I would use the same in my future MBA lectures at the University and other business conferences. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels in dozens of countries and by car this is the worst ever. He finally agreed to refund my money and I paid the $50 to have my taxi take me back to the airport to a decent, clean, honest, hotel. I’ve had better hotel experiences in Mali, Cambodia, Honduras, and Nepal after civil wars, earthquakes, hurricanes and flooding, than this excuse for even just decent customer service. I will never stay in such a place again and I worry about Hotels.com offering such facilities on their website. And yes I’m going to write up his experience for a future article as well as offer several lectures about it to warn others
