Disappointing stay
We have stayed at Read House before, but this stay was pretty disappointing. Housekeeping came extremely late each day - like 5 pm. Since I needed to work at times in the room, coming this late just made it hard to plan out our days. We left the room one day at 9:30 am for a funeral and did not come back until 3:00 pm, and the room was still not made up. The Manor side of the hotel seems to have poor noise insulation, so we heard a lot of noise outside our room from the hallway, and could hear the bass from music from a prom event during one night of our stay. One of the elevators in The Manor side of the hotel was not working, which was really irritating - they are small elevators to begin with, and we waited for ages for an elevator that was not packed full of people to leave our room and check out. On the brighter side, we did have good service from the front desk, and enjoyed the hotel bar (both drinks and food). But we will stay somewhere else in the future.
