San Marco Palace Suites was by far our worse experience at hotels.com and on the top 3 of our lives. It's mindblowing that it has 4 stars, because even if you have low standards, it deserves 1 star, a budget label and should cost 1/10 of its fare. At the very first start, we were "welcomed" with the 'if you don't want it, get out, there's a lot of people wanting it' attitude of its employees. We had a hard time finding the hotel, mainly because it is not an actual hotel, but an apartament building BEHIND the actual hotel that looked like what we call in Brazil a "puxadinho". After realizing that, we asked for help with our luggage and they said we were on our own. I tried to ask about the "transfer from/to airport" service that they advertise here, and they simply pointed to THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION and to freelancer "porters" on San Marco square. After the disapointment, we tried to enjoy the trip, but the hotel made sure we wouldn't forget how awfull it is. Apart from the general rude attitude of most people there, with few exceptions, the room's heating simply didn't work. On the second day, we called the reception and the girl first asked if it was on (oh my God, why didn't I think of that?) and then snorted, sending no one to fix it. I complained on the morning, and they said they would see it on the next day. Only after I said I wouldn't accept one more day without solution, they changed us to another room. Apart from location and the cleaning staff, it was simply hell.
